Why do I need a CLI version?
If you are a company that wants to host the editor on your own server, the CLI version gives you a self-contained binary that runs the LatexDo editor backend. No external dependencies, no cloud lock-in. Deploy it behind your own auth, VPN, or infrastructure. This is the edition built for teams that need full control over their data and environment.
Is LatexDo really free?
Yes. The web editor requires no account, and the desktop app has no paid tier. LatexDo is and will remain free. Donations support development, but there is no paywall.
Can I host LatexDo on my own infrastructure?
Yes. The CLI/server build of LatexDo is designed for self-hosting. Run it on a VPS, a company server, or a Raspberry Pi. It is a single binary with no external database or service dependencies.
What makes LatexDo different from Overleaf or ShareLaTeX?
LatexDo is open source from day one — no enterprise upsell, no hidden features behind a subscription. The desktop app compiles using your local LaTeX installation, the web editor needs no account, and the CLI can be self-hosted. There is no VC-backed growth play here; it is just a good LaTeX editor.
